My Approach
When life feels overwhelming, it’s often because we’ve become trapped in unhelpful patterns—ways of thinking, feeling, or behaving that no longer serve us. You might feel stuck in worry about the future, regret about the past, or disconnected from what truly matters. Perhaps an inner critic dominates your thoughts, or you find yourself turning to distractions to cope.
I believe that lasting change begins with awareness, self-compassion, and psychological flexibility. Together, we will explore the connections between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, helping you recognize and shift patterns that may be holding you back. My approach blends mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and internal family systems (IFS) therapy to foster deep healing and personal growth.
Mindfulness allows us to step back from automatic reactions and observe the mind with curiosity rather than judgment. Through this practice, you will learn to recognize negative thought patterns, reduce emotional reactivity, and cultivate a greater sense of balance and presence.
Self-compassion is a transformative tool in mental wellness, encouraging you to meet yourself with kindness rather than criticism. By shifting judgment to curiosity, we work to reduce shame, strengthen self-worth, and develop a more supportive inner dialogue.
Psychological flexibility, a key component of ACT, helps you respond to life’s challenges in ways that align with your values. Instead of avoiding discomfort or feeling controlled by emotions, you’ll develop the ability to move forward with purpose and resilience.
Access your core self- the calm, clear, creative, confident, courageous, compassionate center within you. By bringing understanding and balance to your internal system, you can reduce inner conflict, heal emotional wounds, and cultivate a greater sense of harmony and self-acceptance.
Through our work together, you will gain practical tools to:
✔ Enhance mental clarity and focus
✔ Reduce stress, anxiety, and depression
✔ Regulate emotions and build resilience
✔ Strengthen relationships and self-awareness
✔ Increase motivation and goal achievement
✔ Foster a deeper sense of self-acceptance and well-being
Therapy is not about fixing what is “wrong” with you—it’s about reconnecting with your authentic self. You don’t have to navigate this journey alone. I’m here to help you build a life of strength, flexibility, and meaning. No matter where you are on your path, you have the power to grow, change, and live in alignment with what truly matters to you.
The Parable of the Two Arrows
A man was walking through the forest when, out of nowhere, an arrow struck him in the arm. The pain was sharp and immediate, and he gasped, gripping the wound. But before he could even catch his breath, his mind began racing.
"Who shot this arrow? How could this happen to me? This is so unfair! What if I never heal? What if I can’t hunt or work anymore? Why was I even walking this way? I should have been more careful!"
As his thoughts spiraled, his suffering grew. The physical pain of the arrow was real, but now he was also drowning in fear, anger, and self-blame. His distress became even more unbearable than the wound itself.
Had he simply focused on the first arrow—tending to his injury with care and seeking help—his pain would have been manageable. But instead, he had shot himself with a second arrow, one made of his own thoughts and reactions.
The Lesson
The first arrow represents life’s unavoidable difficulties—pain, loss, disappointment. These things happen to all of us. The second arrow, however, is optional. It is the suffering we create through resistance, rumination, and self-judgment. While we can’t control the first arrow, we can choose how we respond to it. By meeting pain with mindfulness and self-compassion, we can break free from unnecessary suffering and move forward with greater ease and clarity.

Specialties
Couples Therapy
Relationships thrive when both partners feel heard, valued, and emotionally connected. If you’re experiencing communication breakdowns, unresolved conflicts, or disconnection, I will help you identify patterns that may be causing distress. Through a lens of mindfulness and emotional awareness, we will work to strengthen intimacy, improve communication, and foster a deeper understanding of each other’s needs and vulnerabilities.
Depression
Depression can make even the simplest tasks feel overwhelming, disconnecting you from joy, motivation, and self-worth. Instead of fighting against these feelings, we will explore them with curiosity and compassion, identifying patterns that contribute to low mood. Through mindfulness, self-compassion, and values-based action, I will support you in regaining a sense of purpose, motivation, and connection to what truly matters.
Low Self-Esteem
A harsh inner critic can keep you stuck in patterns of self-doubt, comparison, and feelings of unworthiness. Therapy can help you rewrite these narratives, replacing self-criticism with self-compassion. We will explore the roots of your self-perception and cultivate a more supportive, empowering relationship with yourself.
Life Transitions
Change—even positive change—can be unsettling. Whether you’re facing a career shift, relocation, breakup, new parenthood, empty nest, or another life transition, it’s natural to feel uncertain or overwhelmed. Together, we will explore your emotions with curiosity rather than fear, helping you move through transitions with greater clarity and confidence. I will support you in embracing change as an opportunity for growth while staying connected to your values.
Relationship Struggles
Whether you’re experiencing conflict, emotional distance, or repeating unhealthy relationship patterns, therapy can help you gain insight into the dynamics at play. We will explore how past experiences, attachment styles, and internal narratives influence your relationships. By fostering emotional awareness and communication skills, you will learn to navigate relationships with greater authenticity, trust, and connection.
Adults with Emotionally Immature Parents
Growing up with emotionally immature parents can leave lasting imprints on your sense of self, relationships, and emotional well-being. You may struggle with self-doubt, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, or an enduring sense of not being truly seen or valued. Together, we will explore how these early dynamics have shaped your patterns of thinking and relating to others. In therapy you will learn to break free from old roles, heal emotional wounds, and cultivate a stronger, more authentic sense of self. You are not responsible for your parents' emotional limitations—but you do have the power to reclaim your voice, set boundaries, and create the life you deserve.
Anxiety
Anxiety often pulls you away from the present moment, leaving you stuck in cycles of worry, self-doubt, and what-ifs. If your mind feels constantly restless or on high alert, we will work together to break free from anxious thought patterns. Using mindfulness-based approaches, I will help you develop tools to calm the nervous system, observe anxious thoughts without becoming entangled in them, and create a sense of inner stability.
Perfectionism
If you feel like nothing you do is ever “good enough,” you may be caught in the exhausting cycle of perfectionism. Perfectionism often stems from a desire to avoid or minimize criticism, blame, or ridicule. But in reality, perfectionism keeps us from being seen and can lead to stress, self-criticism, and fear of failure. Together, we will work on shifting from self-judgment to self-acceptance, helping you embrace imperfection while still striving for meaningful growth.
Tuning into Your Intuition and Knowing
In a world filled with external pressures and noise, it’s easy to lose touch with your inner wisdom. If you struggle with self-doubt, overthinking, or difficulty making decisions, we will work on reconnecting with your intuition. Through mindfulness and self-inquiry, I will help you quiet the mental clutter, trust your inner voice, and cultivate the confidence to move forward with clarity and purpose.
Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders
Having a baby, as with any transition in life, can be difficult. You are saying goodbye to your old life in order to learn a new role that you don’t yet have confidence in. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, or feelings of overwhelm during pregnancy or postpartum, you are not alone. I will help you navigate the emotional complexities of pregnancy and early parenthood, providing a safe, compassionate space to explore your feelings, build confidence, and rediscover your strength. Together, we will create a compassionate space to explore these emotions without judgment. I will help you recognize unhelpful thought patterns, build emotional resilience, and reconnect with your sense of self amid the demands of parenthood.
Adjustment to Parenthood
Becoming a parent is a profound transition—one that brings both joy and uncertainty. As you navigate the shift into parenthood, you may experience a range of emotions, from love and excitement to overwhelm and self-doubt. The demands of caring for a newborn, changes in identity, shifts in your relationship, and the pressure to "get it right" can all feel like a heavy weight. Therapy offers a space to process these changes, gain confidence in your new role, and develop strategies to care for yourself while caring for your child. Together, we will explore the emotional challenges of this transition, help you reconnect with your sense of self, and build resilience as you step into parenthood with greater ease and self-compassion.
Parenting
Parenting is deeply rewarding, yet it can also feel overwhelming, exhausting, and filled with self-doubt. Whether you’re navigating toddler tantrums, teen struggles, or your own triggers as a parent, therapy can help you respond with patience and presence rather than react with frustration or guilt. We will work on strengthening your emotional regulation, understanding the patterns influencing your parenting, and fostering self-compassion. Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it’s essential, because when you nurture your own well-being, you have the patience, energy, and emotional capacity to show up as the parent you want to be.
